The Production Manager in Training (PMT) will learn all aspects of manufacturing operations in a building components plant with a strong emphasis on the safety of the associates and the quality of the structural wood components being producedThis includes roof trusses, floor trusses and wall panels for residential, multi-family and agricultural constructionYour career is launched from the manufacturing plant closest to your homeUnder the mentorship of the Plant Manager, you will learn all aspects of production operations while following your PMT training guideYour 9-12 month journey will entail a combination of:
On-the-job trainingClassroom trainingA leadership classBeginning a program to earn your Lean Green BeltOther training, including continuous improvement projectsDuring the 9-12 month period, you may be asked to travel to other manufacturing locations for exposure to different manufacturing environmentsTravel reservations such as flights, rental vehicles, and hotel accommodations are handled by 84 Lumber's Travel Department
Responsibilities:
Mentorship of production associatesMaintaining safety and quality standardsEnsuring efficient flow in manufacturingCalibration and operation of advanced manufacturing equipment which may include laser projection units, automated saws and jigging tables, and material transportation systemsSpecial projects as assigned
Qualifications:
Positive attitude and the desire to thrive in a fast-paced environmentEmpathy and willingness to support the development of othersAbility to multitask and respond quickly to changing prioritiesHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus bachelor's degree, industrial engineering preferred.
